Mikhail Romanov (1596-1645) - ancestor of the Romanov dynasty, who on February 21, 1613 was elected by Zemskoy cathedral to be a Tsar. The archaic-artistic substance of the work's language results from the fact that the portrait is a copy of an earlier version of the Tsar's image painted while Tsar was alive.
