The poet's descendants bought the portrait from A.A. Delvig, who commissioned the portrait creation. Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Chelischev (1797-1881) despite a young age, participated in the Patriotic War of 1812, was a member of the Union and the Nordic welfare society, but did not participate in the Decembrist uprising.
